Wanhao D7 is currently the cheapest available Resin printer.
Basically, a D7 consists of a UV lamp and a normal cell phone display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It achieves a maximum print resolution of 0.047 mm. The value is something banana, because in fact it can hardly be realized, the resin does not harden as precisely as could exposed. As a result, minimum wall thicknesses and minimum distances to be maintained by a multiple greater than this theoretical resolution would like to persuade one. Possible layer thicknesses are 0.100 mm as meaningful upper limit and officially 0.035 mm downwards, but 0.025 mm layers are also possible.
Its installation space is tiny: with 120 mm x 68 mm x 180 mm, so sadly only small print objects might be print.
As a resin tank, the D7 uses a "flexible Vat" system: a sturdy aluminum frame in which a thin Teflon film (so-called FEP film) is clamped and screwed.
How does the Wanhao Duplicator 7 work?
Technically and mechanically, Duplicator 7 and its relatives are knit quite simply: there is nothing special in it or not.
The same basic principle of Duplicator 7 comes from several Chinese providers with small changes: MicroMake, Pronik, KLD, YHD, etc. the printers are very similar.
Why choose the Wanaho?
It works quite reliably, and the worst design issues are resolved. There is a relatively active Facebook community.
You don't have to worry about installing the printer because it comes with the printer installed. All you must do after purchase is to install the building plate and add the resin. Open source software (ie NanoDLP) is useful.
As a Result
Although the Wanhao D7 seems to produce poor quality prints, the software the Chinese firm has released to overcome this is apparently successful and is offering more improvements every day.
From this point of view, it seems to be the preferred product for printing personal designs at an affordable price.
For those who consider the Wanhao inefficient, you can also look at the later produced Wanhao D8. You will see that many of the deficiencies mentioned in this model are fixed in the new model.
